The smart way is to say 'excuse me' and leave. I have no time for rude people. If they cannot respect other people, they certainly do not deserve my respect.

For me, the most difficult thing is to be alone in a foreign country with no contacts. You have to rely on yourself to do everything.It is easy to adjust only if you are friendly and have the right people skills. Otherwise, you will have to learn things the hard way.

I think if you are applying to teach in Thailand the agency that hires you should be able to assist with this as well, and hopefully expedite the process for you. I think it depends on the circumstances though and whether the school is a valid one or not. It really depends.

I have been in Thailand. I find it comfortable for myself personally as I was living in Singapore for a period of time. The people are very nice and friendly. However, not everyone understands English so the communication will not be as smooth as I thought initially.
