Re: Discrimination Against the Disabled, Overweight, and Non-Caucasians
Discrimination has always existed, not only in Asia, everywhere in the world people would discriminate you. As an overweight person I know it well, you just need to prove to them you are better than your competition - not because you are disable, overweight, white, black, yellow, among others- but b...

Re: Homework
I used to send a LOT of homework and the kids hated me for it  The thing is I used to do it specially when they were going to have a test, so they could practice the exercises. But then I realize the more homework I sent the more I had to check and grade later. So I still do it but in moderatio...

Re: Getting the Students to Talk
I remembered having an English teacher who made the whole class want to participate by offering some items as rewards. We were split into groups and we had to do some sort of presentation involving all students. That was the first time I saw some shy kids in the class open up and participate....

Re: Who is to be blamed?
I do think we need to analyze the student behavior to know the problem on why he is not learning or improving at all but I know for experience that in this cases parents don't get involve that much in their children education and tend to dismiss the problem saying things like " he is not good a...

Re: Getting the Students to Talk
With this sort of student I just help them a little more, I approach his/her table and try to explain the answer he/she should give. Sometimes they just block themselves because they are terrify they'll make a mistake and that's normal because the other kids are mean to them sometimes. After that I ...

Re: Class brat (and their parents)
I have never come across this type of student in the past, because I generally teach students with a lot of economic needs, sometimes they tell they didn't even had breakfast because their parents are saving food for lunch, to make a single meal... But I guess I would just grade them as they deserve...

Re: Keeping myself safe
Insecurity is everywhere in the world. I think you always need to be cautious, especially if you are in a country / place you don't fully know. The best advice would be to never go out alone if you are planning on drinking or "getting your hair down" also avoiding lonely places is a good i...

Re: Do you use any online educational portal with your students?
I don't do it. I'm sorry. The reason is that I generally teach kids who don't even own a computer themselves because they can't afford it so I just don't work with "online" homework or anything like that. How about you create a blog and upload the files or anything you need in there?

Re: Personal safety in Thailand
I think you need to be cautious in any country you are in. It doesn't matter where you are, there are always going to be "bad people" that are going to want to take advantage of you in any way. So I agree common sense is the master key to avoid getting robbed or attack in your country or i...

Tuk- Tuks like them or not?
Hello guys! So a tuk- tuk is a kind of taxi you can find in Thai, I'll say a very peculiar one. If you don't know what it looks like, I'll leave a picture for you to see for yourself https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6b/Tuk-tuks_in_Sri_Racha_02.jpg/800px-Tuk-tuks_in_Sri_Racha_02...
