Re: What's the youngest of kind group you've taught?

I'm not sure if they were pre-school or kindergarten, but they were definitely very young. Anyway, though, it was a situation where I taught people from that age up to adult.

Re: Racist Reactions of People Back Home

I am also from the South in the United States. Racism is a prominent issue where I live, and still, even to this day, mixed-race couples still get stares and ridicule. There is a bit of racism where I am from towards Asians and middle easterners, and people talk about how they steal jobs and opport...

Re: Teacher's Pet

Oddly enough, some so-called teacher's pets are not getting good grades - despite the effort. I mean, there were classes I struggled in, but I also was friendly with the teacher. Therefor...

OK, what is the solution? How about a reality check? :) That could come from classmates, law enforcement etc..

Re: Homework

Homework is good for the college and high school level but is counterproductive for lower grades. Anyway, if lower-level schools do feel extra work needs to be done, then they can always make a study period within school hours. Why would giving homework for grade level students be counter productiv...

Re: Dealing with difficult bosses

I think the best solution is to find a different boss, especially in the teaching biz. However, though, that's not always possible or wise, so in that case, you'd have to make compromises. Anyway, I do know that a bad relationship between the management and the workers is a major problem in the ESL ...

Teacher's Pet

Many people think it's wrong to have them. Nonetheless, it's inevitable some students will be drawn to the teacher more. Anyway, perhaps this situation is fine - to a certain extent, of course.

Re: Problems with Living in Vietnam

I personally would not like having restricted freedoms. Maybe other people would be OK with this, but I just don't see it as being something that I necessarily would want to put up with. I mean it might be OK in the short term, but for a longer assignment it would not be great. I don't think it wou...
