Re: Racist Reactions of People Back Home
Yeah, I would just ignore it. Don't play their game or waste your time with them, racism is based out of ignorance. It would be the equivalent of arguing with a parrot that repeats the same words over and over. If however you feel that they may harm you, then maybe you should think about alerting th...

Re: Pampered Foreigners and Ridiculous Complaints
I honestly have little sympathy for those who look down or belittle others because of their financial status or where they are from. That comedy sounds like a good does of karma for the boy. The complaint about the food one really is shallow, if you don't like then don't eat it.

Re: Co-teachers with a Grudge
I wouldn't say he should be ignored, but he should be confronted. I would talk to the man and the staff about the manner and get matters settled. If students see this then they may start to think such behavior acceptable. Everyone should keep things on a professional level.

Re: How to deal with bullies
I got picked on a lot both in middle school and high school and all I did was stood by and took it. To this day I regret not standing up for myself. You gave good advice but it is much more complex. There are times that even if you do tell it will only worsen the situation, either the bullying will ...

Re: Teacher's Pet
As long as you don't give them any sort of special treatment then I see no problem with it. Everybody wants a little admirer every now and again, so as long as the student is well-behaved and does his work there is no real issue. Unless the student is simply trying to boost up their grade with their...

Re: Class brat (and their parents)
I really haven't come across someone in person who thinks they are better than someone else because of money or power. However, I would simply do what you can to aid the student and convince the parents to help their child as well. If they refuse to comply or put more effort in, then all you can do ...

Re: Trouble with the Law
That is quite frightening to hear. Specially considering the fact that people often get blame and thrown in jail for crimes that they didn't even commit. It's a good thing I'm the type of person that keeps to themselves. I better brush up on any strict laws on any country I may visit in the future.

Re: What do you think it's the hardest thing about moving to another country?
I would have to say the hardest thing would be two things, learning the language as well as meeting new friends and associates. I find it hard moving to one state to another, moving to a whole new country with a different language could pose as a big problem for me. But, you should try to think more...

Re: Getting the Students to Talk
Class clowns are usually seen as a bad thing because they usually disrupt the class or make fun of students and the teacher. I would have to say try to let the shy ones get out of their shell first on their own. Try to talk to them in between classes or maybe put them in small groups for assignments...
