Re: Problems with Living in Vietnam
I personally would not like having restricted freedoms. Maybe other people would be OK with this, but I just don't see it as being something that I necessarily would want to put up with. I mean it might be OK in the short term, but for a longer assignment it would not be great.

Re: 5 Thai drinks you must try!
I have had the Thai Bubble Tea before I was surprised that didn't make the list. That is one of the well known teas and one that many people will utilize. I just think of Bubble Tea when I think of Thai beverages, so it was nice to see the list of other drinks that are available in Thailand. Thanks ...

Re: Thai Meals and total cost per day?
It does sound like it is quite affordable to eat in Thailand. That is one of the good things about this country, and South East Asia in general. I like gaining information about Thailand and it is very helpful to know the costs of living there. Thank you for posting this information it is helpful.

Re: Geography of Thailand
Yes, I agree with that, Thanks for posting. Typically when I think of Thailand, I think of beaches, jungles, elephants and the streets of Bangkok. Mountains in the area are something you just don't hear about. It is good to know they are there.

Re: Overcoming culture shock
I think you have to get used to any new environment and Thailand would be one of these. I agree though that you need to do some preparation prior to going to minimize the shock factor. I think you can talk to natives and non natives, view documentaries etc, but no matter how much your prepare yourse...

Re: Geography of Thailand
OK, there may be a strait between them or something. I will take a look at it when I have some time. Unlike the inhospitable Bering sea, I guess travel by boat might be able to be done between countries..but I am assuming passport checks would be done at some point! I think Thailand would be very in...

Re: Geography of Thailand
That is interesting. I didn't know that they were connected at all. I guess I am going to have to have a solid look at a map of South East Asia. Thanks for responding. It is always good to get a message! I have heard of the Humong mountain people but don't think they are in Thailand.

Re: Am I a Troll?
I do not believe myself to be a troll. I will keep all troll tendencies in check. That is a great discussion by the way. It is important to know what not to do on a forum as well as what to do. It was a great discussion on troll behaviors. I think be nice! is a good thing to remember and will nip tr...

Geography of Thailand
I must confess I know little about the geography of Thailand. Are there any mountainous areas in the country or is it all lowlands and coastal areas? i know some areas are a bit higher, as I heard of people going to higher ground to escape the Tsunami. How high is the higher ground in Thailand? I ap...

Re: smart ways to deal with rude people!
I think you have provided some excellent information. I do think generalized frustration is at the root of most rudeness. I think it helps to remember the person being rude may not mean it in a personal vein. They simply may be frustrated with a situation that has nothing to do with you, and instead...
