Re: Rainy day? Don't worry!

I would think that on a rainy day going to the temples would also be in order. It is one of the things that people enjoy doing in the country, and I am sure the majority of it is indoors. I would probably not stay home or in my hotel and read in a book if I was in the country for a limited period of...

Re: The Health Police

I don't like my eating habits scrutinized by others. How you eat is your personal choice, and maybe not everyone agrees with it, but to make negative comments about your food, or say I would never go to a fast food restaurant, I think they are gross or something, is their personal choice. They don't...

Cultural Differences

What do you find are the major cultural differences between Thai's and Westerners? How do you deal with different cultural values and the clash of cultures that are certain to arise? I am sure that respect between individuals goes a long way to bridge any cultural divide that takes place.

Re: Personal safety in Thailand

I think common sense is the rule no matter where you travel. I would stay in the tourist areas unless you are very sure you are in a safe area. Also, I would suggest a companion rather than walking alone particularly if you are a female. I doubt that Thailand is more dangerous than other areas, but ...

Re: Safari World is a great experience

It sounds like fun. I would love to ride an elephant in Thailand. I did that once in the United States and it was an interesting experience. It would be fun to do that in their native area. Elephants are the thing that I most want to see in Thailand honestly. I think the whole country would be amazi...

Re: Is tap water safe to drink in Thailand?

As a general advisory it is recommended not to drink the tap water in any foreign country. I would adhere to the practice of drinking bottled water when I am living in or visiting Thailand. It is just one of the things that I would strongly prefer to do when visiting or living in Thailand or any oth...

Re: Keeping myself safe

I agree with all the above suggestions. It is also important to let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back so someone can start looking or maybe notify the authorities if you don't return when you said that you would. It is just a smart thing to do.

Re: Are clothes expensive in Thailand?

I would think clothes would be reasonably priced in the region, but as someone mentioned, as a foreigner you might not be getting the best prices that are available for the garments. I think you would have to ask around to find shops that will give you a good deal regardless of your nationality. I i...

Re: Does anyone know the regular process to get a Thai Visa?

I think if you are applying to teach in Thailand the agency that hires you should be able to assist with this as well, and hopefully expedite the process for you. I think it depends on the circumstances though and whether the school is a valid one or not. It really depends.

Re: Problems with Living in Vietnam

Yes, and there might be certain restrictions on the content that you can access or download. As a foreigner, I would think you might get a bit more scrutiny than a native maybe. This might be not intrusive, but there nonetheless. Maybe someone could share their experience.
