Re: Co-teachers with a Grudge

Personal grudges are pretty common in most working environments. Yes, the workplace environment may not be the best so it depends on the managing personnel like the headmaster to talk things through. We may not be able to control how other people think but the least we can do is to remind these teac...

Re: How to manage parent's complaints?

It is important to be direct and honest with the parents. You need to be able to convey the key message and tell how the student can improve. Not everyone is perfect. These parents usually want to save face so try to be gentle and not hurt them. Otherwise, the issues will never be resolved.

Re: Goods and Services Tax (GST)

I am sure that the initial implementation will cause many types of issues no matter which country you are from.
SMEs and small traders will also be affected as they will need to get used to this system.
There's also the risk of penalties if the accounting process is not done properly.

Re: Thai Meals and total cost per day?

Thai food is generally pretty appetizing. Like many others have mentioned, 60 to 120 Baht is pretty normal. I personally feel that the portions are smaller than usual. This is the reason why I would recommend you guys to go for snacks as well. They do have some pretty great snacks and desserts. Budg...

Re: The Hiring of the Unqualified

It is important for a teacher to have some sort of certification to be able to teach. Qualified workforce is necessary but sometimes HR has problems to hire teachers. This is where the problem starts. As some of you have mentioned, qualified teachers do not necessarily translate to 'good' teachers. ...

Re: Racist Reactions of People Back Home

There are definitely still stereotypical racists around. This is a common issue around the world today. People love to attribute and pin the blame on the other races. We should not tolerate this behavior and get influenced easily by media around us. Nowadays, I always try to take things with a pinch...

Re: Dealing with difficult bosses

From my personal experience, I find it important to be patient. It is very important not to add oil to the fire by talking back.I always try to make the discussion positive by referring to 'us' and how 'we' can do better.Additionally, do not make unrealistic goals when promising your boss. I find my ...

Re: The Theme

I understand OP's feelings on this. The theme can be better. However, it is best that we have a poll with regards to the theme to see what other forums think of the current theme. I love simplicity so the current theme works for me.It is pretty easy on the eyes although it is a bit bland.

Re: Is nightlife allowed for a serious teacher?

I think often teachers are held at higher moral standard in any Asian culture. So you may have to watch out what you say and do be it day or night. In case of casual bar and club life won't be an issue. But you may have to usually do that in another city instead of the same city. This way you can m...
