Political Problems with Your Homeland

Re: Overcoming culture shock
A bigger problem that culture shock seems to be political hostility. Note that I was in South Korea during the W. Bush years and the hate was over-the-top, mainly fueled by Bush's stance against North Korea, but also due to more troubling things like the US Army running over Korean schoolgirls. Anyw...

Re: Am I a Troll?
Some forums permit a bit of name-calling, but obviously not this one. Anyway, that's not a problem, though, cause different forums have different styles. It all depends on what sort of audience you're appealing to. In fact, some forums are specifically trying to appeal to the weird and/or bad boys.

Re: How to deal with bullies
I'm not sure if anti-bullying attempts (public awareness, anti-bullying signs) in American schools, or maybe in Asian schools also, actually work. Instead, they would probably just create a backlash of kids and adults saying society is "too sensitive". Anyway, how can you really change the...

Re: Geography of Thailand
It has a mix of mountains and plains - with the mountains being in the north. However, the main city of Bangkok is on a large plain on the southern coast. Anyway, one interesting thing involves the fact that Thailand is the only land route connecting the islands of Southeast Asia with India and China.

Re: Peer Pressure
Peer pressure isn't always bad, though. I mean, let's not be too politically correct here. ;) For instance, are people in the wrong to correct someone who obviously a punk? Are people in the wrong for giving constructive criticism involving something like being lazy or refusing to bathe? Good point...

Favorite Thai Soup
I've never been to Thailand, but I have tried ton ton soup (I think that's the name) at a local restaurant. Anyhow, for the only Thai dish I have ever tried, it was quite good. Anyway, what is your favorite? Can you make it yourself?

Re: How to deal with bullies
If you are being bullied by someone, the first thing you need to do is tell an adult about it. That's easier said than done. Note, nobody likes a nark (tattle-tale). In that case, the bullying could increase - cause, well, as in a prison, there isn't a way to get away from them. Avoid walking alone...

Re: Retiring in Thailand
Often the exchange rate makes for an above average standard of living for westerners. Nonetheless, though, a westerner is always an outsider in another land. I mean, there's no place like home. However, though, not all personalities are the same. For instance, myself, I found that Korea grew on me s...
