Por Tor Festival?

Post by Rossy »

So August is here and this means the hungry ghost festival which runs from 21st August to 27th September is Approaching. For those hearing this for the first time, this is when the deceased offer incense as a way to alleviate the suffering of the ghosts. So, what's your opinion on this?

Wow, that sounds like quite the interesting event. First time I actually heard about it. Though why is it called the "hungry" ghost festival?

This festival is celebrated by the Chinese ethnic. In fact, they offer special food, flowers and candles ancestors on altars. There is this delicacy called the red tortoise cake which you may buy during this occasion. This is a sticky glutinous rice flour skin wrapped around a sweet filling in the center.

A few years ago, there were a slew of horror and thriller films that were made and whose story was based around the Chinese hungry ghost festival. HUNGRY GHOST FESTIVAL (2014), and SEVENTH MOON (2008).
