A lot of people are preachy and bossy and supposedly what they say is for your own good; however, though, it's all in a condescending spirit of self-righteousness. For instance, if the right-wing radio host, Michael Savage, says the bums in San Francisco need to get a job, then well, what he says sounds correct - at first hearing. However, though, on closer examination, it's just another guy telling people to shape up when they haven't a clue of what's really going on.

I think some people can't really have or voice an opinion without coming across as preachy or self-righteous. On the other hand, some people can't tolerate hearing the truth about a situation or themselves, without lashing out and calling someone self-righteous as a defense mechanism.
